2016-17 ABA SECTION OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW (ABA-IPL) YOUNG LAWYER FELLOWS PROGRAM [DEADLINE: FEB. 15, 2016]

The goal of the ABA-IPL Fellows Program is to develop future leadership and encourage diversity in the Section. Each year the ABA-IPL Section selects two fellows for three-year terms from applicants of proven achievement, participation, excellence, and commitment. Fellows are encouraged to attend Section meetings and are expected to work within areas such as ABA-IPL Action groups, Boards, and Committees. Fellows also promote diversity and membership, as they continue to develop leadership skills and responsibilities in the Section.

Participants in the ABA-IPL Fellows Program will be funded to attend select Section conferences during their three consecutive years in the program. Winners will be announced by Jun. 1, 2016.

Applicant criteria:

  • Member of the ABA and ABA-IPL Section (currently or by time of appointment to Fellows Program)
  • Lawyer, age 32 or younger, or less than two years after the date of bar admission (at the time of the application deadline).
  • Previous demonstration of leadership qualities and commitment in such areas as:
    • Work in the ABA-IPL Section,
    • Work in other bar associations and organizations
    • Diversity initiatives,
    • Professional pro bono activities,
    • Outstanding academic and or professional achievement

SCHOLARSHIP update:

THE HAITIAN LAWYERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: MAR. 1, 2016 BY 5 P.M.]

Eligibility: Of Haitian decent in good academic standing

Award: To be announced by Mar. 7

  • Each selected student will be awarded at least $2,000
  • The selected student will also be invited to attend the Association’s annual gala, to be held on Mar. 12, 2016 at the JW Marriott in Miami

Requirements:

Submission components: (1) Transcript and (2) a personal statement (maximum 2 pages) that describes your involvement in the community, your financial need for the scholarship as well as the reason(s) you believe you are better qualified for the scholarship

LOGO_FBAThe Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter, cordially invites you to attend the 35th Annual Federal Judicial Reception honoring the Federal Judiciary for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida. This event is our most casual evening, no speeches and no sit-down dinner, just meeting and talking with our federal bench and bar over food and drinks. As in years past, we expect a tremendous turnout, and look forward to seeing everyone there.
