ACEDS 2014 E-DISCOVERY CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION [APRIL 27-29, 2014]

BARBRI (scholarships available) is hosting this year’s Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists® (ACEDS) E-Discovery Conference & Exhibition.  The Conference gathers 100s of leading practitioners to give solutions for reducing the costs and risks associated with the identification, preservation, review, collection, production and management of electronic data.  As budgets dwindle and data volumes soar, this year’s Conference will focus on “doing more with less.”

Hot-button issues include:

  • Implementing sound legal hold processes with limited resources
  • Getting the most bang for your buck with technology-assisted review
  • Achieving cost predictability amid data and vendor volatility
  • Judicial expectations of preservation, proportionality and competence

Pose questions directly to expert presenters, and come away with advice and best practices that will help you do your job better, and network with colleagues, clients, and potential employers.

LAVENDER LAW® CONFERENCE, CAREER FAIR & LGBT LEGAL EXPO [AUGUST 21-23, 2014]

The National LGBT Bar Association has invited our FIU Law students to attend this year’s Lavender Law® Conference, Career Fair & LGBT Legal Expo.  Lavender Law is dedicated to educating and supporting our student members, as they are the future leaders of our profession.

A message from the National LGBT Bar Association:

The Lavender Law Career Fair, held on the first day of the conference, yields increasing interest from major law firms, corporations, government entities and non-profit organizations.  Last year, over 150 employers joined us to recruit from an impressive pool of students for positions throughout the country.

Over 450 students attended our conference last year, and we expect attendance in New York to exceed that number.  In addition to the Career Fair, we offer individual career counseling for law student attendees.  Moreover, students are eligible to compete in the Michael Greenberg Writing Competition, which awards $1,000 in prize money and a complimentary trip to Lavender Law, as well as a publication in the “Tulane Law School Journal of Law and Sexuality.”

Lavender Law promotes the LGBT Bar’s mission of educating legal professionals about issues facing the LGBT community by offering a host of cutting edge continuing legal education (CLE) programming.  These workshops provide law students with information that can be taken back to school and applied to their studies while also providing them with an opportunity to network with presenters immediately following panels.

Where: Sheraton Times Square, New York City

Additional information: Available @ lgbtbar.org/annual/

Registration: Available @ lgbtbar.org/annual/register/

*PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to attend, please advise Ana Bierman, Assistant Dean @ acbierma@fiu.edu
