Career planning networking EVENT UPDATE:

2014 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN LAWYERS (NAWL) ANNUAL MEETING & AWARDS LUNCHEON [JULY 24, 2014]

A message from NAWL:

Women Belong at the Table: Leading with Courage and Confidence

Law firms, corporations, and governments benefit in myriad ways when women are at the helm.  Nevertheless, women are still the minority at most leadership tables.  This year’s Annual Meeting will examine the reasons behind the leadership gap and what it takes to be a courageous, confident, and effective leader.  Prominent in-house counsel, private practitioners, and government lawyers will offer concrete skills, best practices, and actionable solutions relevant to women lawyers in all legal disciplines who are looking to take and make the most of their seat at the table.  The Awards Luncheon will provide a unique opportunity to celebrate and network with over 800 lawyers from around the country as NAWL recognizes and honors leading lawyers, legal departments, and NAWL members who have made exceptional contributions to improve and diversify the legal profession.

REAL PROPERTY, PROBATE AND TRUST LAW SECTION OF THE FLORIDA BAR

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING, LEGISLATIVE AND CASE-LAW UPDATE SEMINAR, & MOCK INTERVIEW PROGRAM [JULY 31 – AUGUST 2, 2014]

The Section’s various substantive law committees will meet on July 31 to discuss cutting edge issues usually involved in proposed changes to the laws in our substantive areas of practice. On August 1, the Section conducts an all-day Legislative and Case-Law Update Seminar. The Executive Council then meets on Saturday at around 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. (estimate).

*The Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar has invited our FIU Law students to attend any of the committee meetings on Thursday as well as the meeting of the Executive Council on Saturday to be held at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

MOCK INTERVIEWS [AUGUST 2, 2014]

In addition, the Section is conducting mock interviews for law students around Florida with the goal of helping students practice and hone their job interviewing skills. Their interviewing attorneys are seasoned lawyers with experience interviewing associate job applications. The Section conducts the interviews with the students, then critiques their interviewing skills. They are especially hoping to reach out to law students interested in practicing in the fields of real property, probate or trust law, but they welcome all law students to participate in this mock interview program.

*The Section hopes that our FIU Law students will take advantage of this program at that time and invite any students who would like to participate in the mock interview program to submit their resumes to the emails provided below.
