2015 NOVA LAW REVIEW SYMPOSIUM: “NEW MEDIA AND OLD METAPHORS” [FEBRUARY 12-13, 2015]
The 2015 Symposium, New Media and Old Metaphors, is a joint production of the Nova Law Review and NSU Sports and Entertainment Law Society (SELS). The conference will provide an interdisciplinary review of issues involving the transformative impact of new media on traditional entertainment and media, including journalism, sports, film, broadcast, gaming, music and similar areas.

Social media, new distribution models, wearable electronics, global attacks on media companies, reinterpretation of fair use, sharable 3D print programs, and other technological changes require artists, industry, courts, and legislatures to rethink the ways laws once designed for daily print newspapers and burlesque houses apply in the modern age. The symposium is an opportunity for academics, practitioners, consultants, and students to exchange ideas and explore emerging issues of law, policy and economic enterprise.
