WRITING COMPETITION update:

AIPLA: ROBERT C. WATSON AWARD [DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2024]

AIPLA has sponsored this student competition for many years to encourage interest in intellectual property issues.

Judges consider the merit of the article as a contribution to the knowledge respecting intellectual property and the extent to which it displays original and creative thought or information not previously written or published by an author.

Topic: Students are encouraged to submit articles on a subject relating to the protection of intellectual property

Awards: The winner will receive reasonable expense reimbursement to attend the AIPLA Annual Meeting, Oct. 24-26, 2024 in Washington DC, to receive their award.

Submission guidelines: To be eligible for consideration, the article must have been written solely by a student or students either in full-time attendance at a law school (day or evening) or prepared in connection with a law school course. Papers should be approximately the equivalent of 10 law review pages, including footnotes (30-40 pages typed copy). Submission must be made in PDF or text format. Submission must include the submitter’s name, current address, current telephone number, and employment information, if applicable.

ABA FORUM ON CONSTRUCTION LAW – LAW STUDENT WRITING COMPETITION [DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2024]

Topic: Papers should address a topical issue of interest to the construction industry

Awards: The winning participant will receive:

  • National recognition via the ABA Forum on Construction Law
  • $1,000 cash prize
  • Travel expenses to the Fall Meeting 2024 in an amazing location TBD (not to exceed $2,000)
  • First place plaque
  • One-year membership in the Forum

A second place winner may be recognized as well, and all participants will be considered for publication in a Forum on Construction Law publication.
