SCHOLARSHIP update:

2018 EARL WARREN SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: MAY 1, 2018]

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is pleased to offer this scholarship, which is intended to support the careers of law students dedicated to advancing the cause of racial justice. The winner will be announced Aug. 15, 2018.

Eligibility: 1Ls; must be a U.S. citizen

Award: $30,000

  • The scholarship provides an award of $10,000 per year for 3 years (as long as scholars remain in good academic standing and continue to meet the scholarship criteria)
  • In addition to financial assistance, scholars are given two unique opportunities: (1) An internship, externship, or research project with LDF to be completed during their 3 years of law school during a mutually-agreed upon period, and (2) free attendance at LDF’s Civil Rights Training Institute, an annual civil rights conference that brings together civil rights advocates, scholars, and attorneys to discuss strategies and to network

Requirements: Record of academic achievement and demonstrated and ongoing commitment to racial justice and civil rights

Submission components: (1) Completed Scholarship Application Form; (2) copy of acceptance letter to law school; (3) 2 recommendation letters; (4) resume; (5) transcript; (6) essay; (7) personal statement; (8) copy of LSAT score; and (9) copy of Student Aid Report (FAFSA)
