WRITING COMPETITION update:

AMERICAN COLLEGE OF CONSUMER FINANCIAL SERVICES LAWYERS – 2018 WRITING COMPETITION [DEADLINE: DEC. 1, 2017]

Awards will be presented for (a) the best book; (b) the best publishable article, book chapter, or substantial book review; and/or (c) the best student note or comment on a topic dealing with consumer financial services law.

Topic: Address a topic on consumer financial services, but not securities regulation, insurance, or the safety-and-soundness aspects of banking regulation (*works on subjects within these (or other) areas, however, will be considered if they bear directly on consumer financial services)

Awards:

  • $2,500; (b) $2,000; (c) $1,000
  • Certificate of Recognition from the College
  • Travel expenses to attend the spring 2017 meeting of the College @ Orlando, FL in Apr. 2018, where the winners will be honored (the meeting is held in conjunction with the Spring Meeting of the Business Law Section of the ABA)

*In any given year, depending on submissions, all 3 awards, or fewer, may be made

Submission guidelines: Entries must have been written or published between Nov. 15, 2016 and Dec. 1, 2017. Unpublished entries should be typed, double spaced, and in law review format.

SCHOLARSHIP update:

WILLIAM M. HOLLAND SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: DEC. 1, 2017 BY 11:59 P.M.]

The F. Malcolm Cunningham, Sr. Bar Association, the minority West Palm Beach Bar Association, will be hosting their 2018 William M. Holland Scholarship Luncheon on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 in West Palm Beach, FL. The William M. Holland Scholarship Luncheon honors the legacy of Mr. Holland by awarding scholarships to deserving African American law school students to assist them in their bar study preparation for the Florida Bar Examination.

Eligibility: The scholarships will be provided to well-deserving third-year African American law students, scheduled to take the Florida Bar Examination in July 2018

ABA 2018 IPLSPRING MEETING LAW STUDENT REPORTER PROGRAM [DEC. 1, 2017 BY 11:59 P.M. EST]

Inviting all law students to apply, and to share with other law students who may be interested, the ABA’s 2018 IPLSpring Meeting Law Student Reporter Program application is now open! Law Student Reporters are given complimentary registration to the ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law’s 33rd Annual Intellectual Property Conference in Arlington, VA on Apr. 18-20.

During the event, students attend the Section’s premier CLE programs and network with intellectual property law attorneys from across the nation while reporting on the content of the CLE programming via social media. This is a great opportunity for students to distinguish themselves in the area of IP law.
