WRITING COMPETITION update:

ABA SECTION OF ANTITRUST LAW – IP COMMITTEE LAW STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST [DEADLINE: NOV. 1, 2017 BY MIDNIGHT CST]

Eligibility: 3Ls (full-time or part-time) expecting to receive J.D. at the end of the 2018 academic year

Topic: A current issue of interest with implications for antitrust and intellectual property law

Awards:

  • $1,500
  • Free attendance (and travel expenses up to $1,000) to the ABA Antitrust Law Section’s 2018 Spring Meeting in Washington, D.C.
  • The top essay, along with a biography of the winning student, will be published in an ABA publication

JAMAICAN AMERICAN BAR ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: OCT. 20, 2017]

Scholarships will be presented at the Annual Grand Gala and Awards Ceremony on Nov. 18, 2017 in Ft. Lauderdale.

Eligibility: 2Ls and 3Ls who are “Jamaican nationals by birth or parentage”

Submission components: Applicants must submit an “expository response in at least 500 words” to the question: Do the sanctuary policies implemented by some cities with large immigrant populations seek to nullify federal immigration law and obstruct its enforcement?
