NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD (NLRB): HONORS LAW CLERK [DEADLINE: NOV. 22, 2016]

Become a part of a prestigious and elite Agency created by Congress in 1935 to administer the National Labor Relations Act, the primary law for relations between unions and employers in the private sector. The NLRB is an independent Federal agency that has daily impact on the way America’s companies, industries and unions conduct business.

This position is established as part of the NLRB Honors Program, which supports positions working in three different program areas. These positions are either on the Board or on the General Counsel-Headquarters. The purpose of this position is to provide experience that exposes the employee to the full range of agency legal practices.

1L LCLD SCHOLARS PROGRAM [OPENS: DEC. 1, 2016]

The 1L Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Scholars Program offers first-year law students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to spend a summer working side-by-side with attorneys from LCLD Member organizations. 105 LCLD Member law firms and corporations participated in the 2016 program, collectively offering more than 220 opportunities. Opportunities for 2017 are currently being added by LCLD Members.

LCLD provides several networking opportunities for 1L LCLD Scholars, which include:

  • 1L LCLD Scholars Summit, May 23-25, 2017 in Philadelphia, PA
  • An opportunity to participate in a mock interview with attorneys from 1L LCLD Member law firms
  • Dedicated LinkedIn group for 1L LCLD Scholars

SCHOLARSHIP update:

ROSENTHAL & WADAS CRIMINAL DEFENSE SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: DEC. 31, 2016]

Rosenthal & Wadas, Attorneys in McKinney, Texas, are pleased to offer the Rosenthal & Wadas Criminal Defense Scholarship, which will be judged on merit and need. Academic achievements as well as any leadership experiences will be taken in to account.

Eligibility: This scholarship is open to all students heading to or who are currently enrolled in law school for the 2017 spring semester (full time).

Award: $1,000 (to be awarded in Jan. 2017)

Requirements: Minimum GPA of 3.0

Submission components: Via the form provided on their site, you will be required to submit: (1) Your personal information, including name and contact information; (2) link to your Facebook profile; (3) college name, graduation date, and GPA; (4) employment and financial information; (5) a 750+ word essay on the following topic: “Is a specific aspect of the criminal justice system unjust and require reform?”; (6) a digital copy of your school transcript (unofficial); and (7) recommendation letter and/or resume.
