ABA SECTION OF LITIGATION: JUDICIAL INTERN OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM (JIOP) [DEADLINE: JAN. 10, 2020]

JIOP’s mission is to provide opportunities to students who are members of racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the profession. The program also provides opportunities to students with disabilities, women, students who are economically disadvantaged and students who identify as LGBT. Interns elect to receive a one-time $2,000 stipend or coordinate with their law school to receive academic credit.

Who: Open to all diverse 1L and 2L students

Where: Internships are available in several locations in California, Illinois and Texas, as well as the following cities: Phoenix, AZ; Washington, DC; Miami, FL; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA and Seattle, WA. Students may indicate geographic preferences on their applications but may not request specific judges or courts.

  • Internships for students with an Intellectual Property focus will be offered in Chicago, LA, Miami, New York, Texas and Washington, DC. Students may indicate interest on their application. These specialized slots are limited and any student applying to the program with a request for specialization will also be considered for general internships.

When: JIOP is a full-time (32 hours/week), 6-week minimum, summer internship program
