RURAL SUMMER LEGAL CORPS PROGRAM [DEADLINE: FEB. 12, 2018 BY 11:59 P.M. ET]

The Rural Summer Legal Corps program connects public interest law students with civil legal aid organizations to address pressing legal issues facing rural communities. Thirty fellowship opportunities are available nationwide to provide critical legal services to rural communities in the areas of housing, child welfare, migrant workers, disaster relief and more. Selected students will receive a $5,000 stipend.

Who: 1Ls and 2Ls

Where: There are opportunities in Florida with Public Housing Outreach, Legal Services of North Florida @ Quincy, FL (*but you can apply to any positions you find interesting) – applicants are able to designate up to three sites that they would like to be considered for and the sites are not made aware of how they were prioritized.

Selected students will begin the summer with intensive training from issue area experts in Washington, DC before deploying to their host site.

KOZYAK MINORITY MENTORING FOUNDATION – 2018 SUMMER FELLOWSHIP [DEADLINE: FEB. 26, 2018 @ 11 P.M. EST]

The Kozyak Minority Mentoring Foundation will provide four $5,000 summer fellowships to first and second year law students. The Fellowship Committee’s selection criteria will include evidence of performance indicative of likely future success in the field of law. The Fellowship Committee will consider, among other things, academic excellence, financial need, commitment to community service, commitment to diversity, and leadership skills.

Students are responsible for securing their own summer employment opportunities in the areas of government, judiciary or public interest. Summer employment opportunities must last for a minimum of 6 weeks and must be unpaid. Interested applicants should not be deterred if they have not identified a summer employment opportunity upon submission of this application.

Who: 1Ls and 2Ls who are academically and professionally driven, and demonstrate financial need; students must be enrolled in a Florida law school or be a verified Florida resident attending an out-of-state law school
