PALM BEACH COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION: ANNUAL BENCH BAR CONVENTION – SEEKING LAW STUDENT VOLUNTEER “INFORMATION AMBASSADORS” [MAR. 10, 2017 SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER BY: FEB. 3, 2017]

The Palm Beach County Bar Association invites our FIU Law students to its annual Bench Bar Convention where over 1,000 attorneys and judges will be in attendance. This is the largest local gathering of attorneys and judges who meet to discuss legal issues pertinent to their respective areas of practice.

Due to the size of the event and a new format, they are looking for law student volunteers to provide assistance to the participants. The students will be “information ambassadors.” This is a great opportunity for your students to meet local attorneys and judges.

  • There are two shifts (9:00-12:00) and (1:15-5:00).
  • There will be a telephonic training beforehand so the students are fully prepared.
  • The students can attend the class sessions and are also welcome to attend the cocktail reception following the event.

Where: Palm Beach County Convention Center

Contact: Any interested student can contact Amy S. Borman, General Counsel @ ABorman@pbcgov.org or @ 561.355.1927

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION – DIVERSITY NETWORKING SOCIAL [FEB. 18, 2017 – RSVP BY: FEB. 6, 2017]

The Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee has invited our FIU Law students to their annual Diversity Networking Social. The legal profession has traditionally underrepresented groups such as women, ethnicities, persons with disabilities, and those of diverse sexual orientation. Fortunately, we have seen a change in recent years, and more students ― and lawyers― are entering the profession from a wide array of backgrounds. The HCBA’s message to bar members is that there is great value in distinct points of view.

Each year it is a tradition to invite law students and faculty from all over the state to take place in this event. Students will have an opportunity to meet potential mentors, build professional relationships, be paired with potential mentors comprised of attorneys from the local area and learn about opportunities available through Tampa Bay area law firms and local bar associations. Admission is free; includes a mileage reimbursement for students; dress code business casual.

Where: Chester H. Ferguson Law Center, 1610 N. Tampa St., Tampa, FL 33602

When: 1 P.M. – 3:30 P.M.
