LAW TO THE PEOPLE, LLC – ISERVE AWARD [DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 8, 2015]

Law to the People is offering a scholarship to students taking the Florida Bar exam this summer. Their scholarship will pay for bar-related expenses, such as the bar application fee, bar prep courses, etc. The “I Serve” Award is designed for the graduating law student who has demonstrated a commitment to service to the community. They recognize that there are often expenses that are unexpected and may not be covered by traditional law school scholarships. The “I Serve” Award is designed to help fill those gaps and reward the students of today who will be the servant attorneys of tomorrow.

MENDRZYCKI ESSAY CONTEST [DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 20, 2015 BY 11:59 P.M. CST]

Topic: The contest encourages original and innovative research and writing in the area of legal malpractice law, professional liability insurance and loss prevention

The 2015 Contest Essay Hypothetical involves liability issues arising from the breach of a law firm’s computer network and the subsequent leaking of a client’s confidential information

Awards: $5,000 cash award and all expense paid trip to the Spring 2015 National Legal Malpractice Conference in Washington, DC, April 8-10, 2015

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION (HCBA) DIVERSITY COMMITTEE – ANNUAL DIVERSITY NETWORKING SOCIAL [FEBRUARY 21, 2015]

The event will be focused upon connecting law students from across the state with attorneys, law firms, judges, local bar associations and government lawyers in the Tampa area. In addition to providing students the opportunity to network with local attorneys and members of the judiciary, this year’s event will provide each student attendee with headshots courtesy of Thompson Studios for use during the job search process (LinkedIn, etc.).
