2021 PMF PROGRAM [DEADLINE: OCT. 14, 2020]

The PMF Program is a highly selective, 2-Year fellowship and leadership development program that recruits recent and soon-to-be graduates with advanced degrees. It is the Federal Government’s flagship leadership development program and is an excellent way for students with management potential and public service motivation to start a career in the Federal Government and be developed into tomorrow’s leaders. Approximately six weeks after the application closes, we expect to announce PMF Class of 2021 Finalists.

U.S. CITIZENSHIP & IMMIGRATION SERVICES (USCIS) – SPRING 2021 LEGAL INTERN WITH ASSOCIATE COUNSELS IN THE MIAMI FIELD OFFICE [DEADLINE: OCT. 23, 2020 @ CLOSE OF BUSINESS]

At USCIS, the agency oversees legal immigration to the United States. USCIS employees help people build better lives while defending the integrity of our nation’s immigration system. USCIS is ranked as one of the Best Places to Work. At the Office of the Chief Counsel within USCIS, lawyers review and research laws, policies, and procedures; support the agency and other governmental organizations in litigation matters; and provide legal education and advice to USCIS staff and leadership on legislative, regulatory, and national security issues. USCIS employs law school grads in many parts of the agency in addition to the Chief Counsel’s Office, including as asylum officers and immigration service officers.

Exposure to immigration law is encouraged, but training will be provided.  The candidate will be called upon to assist with family immigration benefit cases, including appeals, as well as other immigration matters.  Remote work is available although some presence in the office at 8801 NW 7th Avenue, Miami, 33150 is required.

Who: 2Ls or 3Ls; must be a U.S. citizen; must be able to pass a background check, including a drug screening

When: Ideally the candidate will begin Jan. 11, 2021 and work through Apr. 30, 2021

  • The position requires 12-15 hrs./wk. with flexible hours
  • If a 2L is selected for the position, they may stay on for a full-time summer internship

  • Skills: Strong legal research and writing base; organization skills; attention to detail
