IMMIGRANT JUSTICE CORPS 2017 FELLOWSHIP [DEADLINE: NOV. 15, 2016 AT 11:59 P.M. EST]

Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) is the country’s first fellowship program dedicated to meeting the need for high-quality legal assistance for immigrants seeking citizenship and fighting deportation. Inspired by Chief Judge Robert Katzmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, IJC brings together the country’s most talented advocates, connects them to New York City’s best legal and community institutions, leverages the latest technologies, and fosters a culture of creative thinking that will produce new strategies to reduce the justice gap for immigrant families, ensuring that immigration status is no longer a barrier to social and economic opportunity.

Interviews will be conducted in Dec. and they hope to make offers by late Dec./early Jan. *Please note: This year, they will be matching Justice Fellows with host organizations before making an offer.

Who: Law students who will graduate in 2017, 2016 law graduates, and 2015 law graduates whose clerkship or other fellowship will end by Aug. 2017, are eligible to apply.

Requirements:

Submission components: (1) Resume; (2) unofficial law school transcript in PDF format; (3) statement of interest, 500 words or less, describing why you would like to be an IJC Justice Fellow; (4) essay question, 500 words or less, describing an interesting legal issue you have encountered in a job or internship; and (5) 2 letters of recommendation (at least 1 must be from a work or internship supervisor).
