2018 RICHARD S. WHITE FELLOWSHIP [DEADLINE: JULY 19, 2017]

Helsell Fetterman believes that achieving and maintaining diversity are key to providing exceptional solutions to their clients’ legal problems. They embrace the responsibility of maintaining a workplace of inclusion, recognizing that clients are best served by a team of attorneys and staff that is as diverse as the world in which we practice. The Richard S. White Fellowship includes both a paid, 12 week summer associate position and a $7,500 academic scholarship to be remitted directly to the student’s law school at the beginning of the school year following the summer clerkship to assist in paying the student’s tuition.

Who: 2Ls in good standing

Requirements: Applicants must possess an academic record, leadership abilities, and a commitment to personal and professional initiatives that indicate promise for a successful legal career; demonstrate an interest in furthering diversity within the community and the profession; and communicate an interest and commitment to both the practice areas represented at Helsell Fetterman and to building a practice in the Seattle area.

EVENTS update:

6TH ANNUAL LEGAL EAGLE COMPETITION [JULY 15, 2017]

The Legal Eagle competition consists of several rounds of arguing both the plaintiff’s and defendant’s positions. Facts and materials are released 72 hrs. before the competition begins, and competitors learn which side they will take on the morning of the one day, single elimination competition. After the final round, a perpetual trophy is presented to the winner. The winner will be listed in the Hall of Fame for perpetuity. Possible scholarships available for those who qualify.

Who: Open to all attorneys who are practicing in the 11th Judicial Circuit, are under 40 years of age and admitted to the Florida Bar for less than 7 years
