U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS OFFICE OF CHIEF COUNSEL – CIVILIAN HONORS PROGRAM [DEADLINE: OCT. 15, 2016]

The Civilian Honors Program is their agency’s main tool for hiring law students into permanent, entry-level attorney positions. In an average year, USACE will hire 10 new attorneys through the Civilian Honors Program.

Where: 50 offices worldwide

  • Applicants may indicate their geographic preferences in their applications or by separate email to CECC-HON@usace.army.mil

EVENTS update:

THE PEGGY BROWNING FUND: 18TH ANNUAL NATIONAL LAW STUDENTS WORKERS’ RIGHTS CONFERENCE [OCT. 14-15, 2016]

With multiple interactive workshops, panel discussions and keynote address, the conference will give each participant additional insight into becoming an advocate for workers and their families. Students will:

  • Gain a greater understanding of, appreciation for and interest in the issues facing American workers;
  • Supplement their labor and workers’ rights courses; and
  • Network with fellow law students, top labor attorneys, professors, nonprofit practitioners and government officials.

Commerce continues to shift to the digital marketplace. In this roundtable we will explore the trademark practice issues and regulations surrounding this fundamental change in doing business. Some of the topics that will be discussed are as follows:

  • The effect on trademark usage as resellers and dealers become de-centralized;
  • How to combat the rise of small-batch counterfeit products that are being created in homes; and
  • How laws are keeping pace with the electronic marketplace.
