AMERICANS FOR IMMIGRANT JUSTICE – DETENTION PROGRAM EJW FELLOW [DEADLINE TOMORROW: AUG. 20, 2016]

AI Justice seeks to sponsor law student applicants and recent graduates for the 2017 Equal Justice Works Fellowship. Equal Justice Works provides two-year fellowships to graduating law students, outgoing judicial clerks and new attorneys who are motivated to work at a public interest law office. The fellow will work full-time with AI Justice’s Detention Program. AI Justice will work with the fellow to craft an EJW fellowship project that will focus on assessing conditions of under-served detention facilities throughout Florida in an effort to engage in multi-layered advocacy to bring about systemic change. Job responsibilities include: Providing “Know Your Rights” presentations and legal screenings for detained immigrants, documenting detention conditions, legal representation in immigration proceedings before the Immigration Court; appellate proceedings before the Board of Immigration Appeals; proceedings before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and engaging in advocacy with local and national partners on behalf of detained immigrants. The Fellow will represent clients seeking immigration benefits, including asylum and release from immigration custody. The Fellow also will be required to conduct legal screenings of detained immigrants to determine eligibility for legal relief and representation by AI Justice, provide advice and counsel to detained immigrants, and comply with other program reporting.

THE 10TH ANNUAL CORPORATE IP INSTITUTE® [OCT. 25-26, 2016]

CIPI2016

Georgia State Law and the J. Mack Robinson College of Business collaborate for the educational benefit of corporations interested in maximizing the value of their intellectual property assets. One of the primary initiatives of this collaboration is the Corporate IP Institute® (CIPI), a two-day annual event held at the Georgia State University Student Center. CIPI, held since 2007, provides a singular forum for in-house IP professionals to discuss issues they face, exchange ideas, and network locally and nationally. The CIPI speakers come from corporations large and small, national and international organizations, academia and the bar.
