SCHOLARSHIP update:

JUVENILE JUSTICE LAW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP [DEADLINE: JULY 31, 2016]

The Tiftickjian Law Firm, P.C. is committed to juvenile justice and wants to encourage young people to pursue a career in law and hopefully make a difference to someone in their careers. They have discovered that nothing matters more in the early life of a youth charged with a crime than lawyers, legal professionals, and judges who are committed to defending the rights of the youth. That is why their law firm is offering the Juvenile Justice Scholarship to encourage and assist students with attending law school with an interest in juvenile justice, as well as raise awareness of the issue of prison sentences and reduced rights for minors that place youths on an institutionalized path towards spending a large part of their life in the criminal justice system. We can do better.

Eligibility: Cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher

Award: One applicant is awarded a $1,000 scholarship. The Tiftickjian Law Firm, P.C. scholarship award recipient will be notified of the selection on or before August 15th, 2016.

Career planning networking EVENTS UPDATE:

AIPLA: 20TH ANNUAL PATENT COOPERATION TREATY SEMINAR [JULY 25-26, 2016]

AIPLA_PCT2016

The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) has taken on increasing importance as reciprocity through the PPH (Patent Prosecution Highway) and various accelerated examination procedures relying on international search reports enables obtaining a patent more quickly while preserving the deferral of commitment to application and research as a company grows out its size and portfolio.

This program will cover the basics and an overview. For the advanced PCT practitioner, this panel features not merely leading experts, but members who participate in the ongoing design and evolution of the PCT system, and its parallel IP5 multi-office document access system:  Global Dossier.

For newcomers to the PCT, there will be a one-hour “PCT Primer” Webinar, which will provide an overview of the PCT system and the basics of filing a PCT application. The Webinar will take place on Thursday, July 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm EDT. We will have oral presentations with a written directory, and take questions during the webinar. The Webinar is free to all PCT Seminar registrants. You must register for the Webinar at the same time you register for the Seminar.
